Speaking during a political rally held at Baka Primary School Ground in Karonga, Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo, President of the National Development Party (NDP), criticized the current administration, citing the rising cost of living and alleged failure to address the needs of both rural and urban communities.

“Even soya pieces are now K1,000 and sugar prices are skyrocketing. How can villagers survive? Leaders from the north will no longer remain silent but will take an active role in transforming the region and the country” He said.

Freedom Party President Khumbo Kachali echoed similar sentiments, lamenting the government’s neglect of the Karonga–Mzuzu Road, which remains in poor condition.

Meanwhile, Dr. Victor Madlopa, President of the Solidarity Alliance Party, advocated for federalism as a way to ensure balanced development across the country.

Former Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya also addressed the crowd, accusing the current government of lacking the leadership capacity to steer the nation in the right direction.

In a surprise appearance, Kamlepo Kalua, the DPP Shadow MP for Rumphi East, expressed his support for the alliance, saying he is ready to work with the group despite representing a different political party.

While the movement has gained support from some political analysts, they have cautioned the alliance leaders against using the initiative for personal political gains.
