Police in Blantyre have launched a manhunt for armed criminals who murdered 33-year-old medical doctor and lecturer, Dr. Victoria Bobe, during a violent break-in at her Chigumula residence late Monday night.

According to police, the attackers gained entry by drilling through the perimeter wall, assaulting a security guard, and breaking down the main door using metal bars. Inside the bedroom, the assailants demanded money from Dr. Bobe’s husband, a banker at NBS Bank. After he stated he had none, the criminals shot Dr. Bobe in the head, killing her instantly. They escaped with a laptop and two empty bags.

Dr. Bobe, who worked at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and lectured at KUHES, hailed from Magombo Village, T/A Mkaya in Balaka. She is survived by her husband and two

children. Police say investigations are underway.
