MP Mungasulwa Mwambande Donates 1.5 Million Kwacha for Road Grading in village headman Mwakamogho.

The Member of Parliament for Karonga Songwe constituency, Mungasulwa Mwambande has contributed 1.5 million Kwacha to support the grading of the Mwakamogho road at village headman Mwakamogho under Chief Mwakaboko in Karonga District.

Speaking during the handover of the funds, Mwambande praised the initiative taken by the residents of the Mwakamogho area for self-mobilization and financial contributions toward the road project were highly commendable, which motivated him to join their efforts with his financial support.

Mwambande emphasized that local communities can only develop effectively if the residents unite and cooperate, just as the people of Mwakamogho village have demonstrated.

He also add that good roads are vital for daily livelihoods, education, and general mobility, which is why he decided to supplement the community’s existing contributions.

In his remarks, Senior Chief Mwakaboko who also contributed 100,000 Kwacha to the project warned that a lack of well-maintained roads severely hinders local development.

Senior Chief Mwakaboko commended Mungasulwa Mwambande for his timely assistance and also urged villages under his jurisdiction to emulate village headman Mwakamogho’s example by initiating local road works instead of solely relying on the central government for all development projects.

The Karonga District Commissioner Willard Mwambo highlighted the importance of community participation in local developments, explaining that government funding alone is often insufficient to address all infrastructural needs at once.

DC Willard Mwambo personally also contributed 200,000 Kwacha toward the project.
