Speaking during the handover ceremony, Neighbourhood Committee chairpersons Newton Mwamulima (PGVH Mwahimba) and Morgan Kakangula (SGVH Malema 1) explained that the leaders took the initiative to address the long-standing water scarcity at the hospital and ensure reliable access to clean water.
They also praised the traditional leaders and urged continued collaboration to purchase additional storage tanks and maintain a consistent water supply at the facility.
Reacting to the development, Kaluma North Ward Councillor Myness Mwalweni thanked the traditional leaders for their proactive step.
She noted that the new water supply will significantly improve sanitation and hygiene at the hospital.
Mwalweni further pledged to personally purchase additional pipes and fittings so that running water can be extended into the hospital offices, which currently have none.
Officer-in-Charge Belium Mwenekibombwe expressed great joy at the leaders’ action.
He emphasised that the project will greatly ease sanitation challenges at the facility, adding that “water is life.”
